Malala Yousafzai, the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate will be speaking in Providence at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on July 28.  Tickets will be available for purchase this Friday, February 12 starting at noon.

Malala was awarded the Nobel Prize for her activism concerning Pakistani girls’ educational rights.  In 2012, she famously survived an assassination attempt when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head. After this attack, Yousafzai was airlifted to several different locations to receive treatment, finally ending up in a hospital in Birmingham, U.K for intensive treatment.

I Am Malala, Yousafazai’s memoir, was co-written with Christina Lamb and is listed on The New York Times Best Sellers list. In 2015, Davis Guggenheim ’86 also directed a documentary about Malala entitled He Named Me Malala.
