Introducing Vlog’s newest project: Now Playing, in which actors perform monologues or songs from different productions currently playing on campus.
This first segment is from the TAPS Department production of Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play, directed by Professor Connie Crawford. Mr. Burns opens Thursday night in Leeds Theater. Hiromi Komorita and Ben Hayslett perform their character’s monologues from the play.
Shortly after an unspecified apocalyptic event, a group of survivors gather together and begin to attempt to recount an episode of the television show The Simpsons. A play about about memory, forgetting, and the power of storytelling, Mr. Burns pushes a pop-culture narrative past the brink of the apocalypse and invites us to question what from our present day society will become myth.
